The Next Big Thing After "The Cloud"

So, you are just starting to step into the world of "Cloud Computing" and then, pop! Something new comes out of the blue compelling the world that its going to be the next big thing in the era of computing. What's that so-called-new thing?

It's sky computing.

But don't worry! It isn't gonna be completely different or deviate from what we've learnt as "Cloud Computing". In fact, without cloud, there can't be sky computing.

Let's see what the real deal is all about! (drum roll please!)

Back in February 2009, Prof. Ion Stoica puts out his idea as "a more commoditized version of cloud computing, which we call the Sky computing." .Ion Stoica has always been right about predicting development in cloud computing.

So, first let me ask a question and answer the same. Alright, what's the problem with current cloud computing technology?

Cloud service providers such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud, Rackspace and Azure have their own cloud-native services and applications that run mostly on their environments only. But let's say an organization uses both Azure and AWS to host their applications. Currently, a lot of problems and caveats can arise to connect and make apps hosted in both the cloud environments work together well and good.

This is where sky computing comes into play!

In essence then, this is about enabling multicloud application development . It fulfills the vision of utility computing, applications should be able to run on any cloud provider (i.e., write-once, run anywhere)

In essence, sky computing is about enabling multicloud application development.

So this is what all the yakking and raving of Sky Computing is all about!

I hope this post would've helped you in knowing about what the next big thing after cloud computing is and all about!

THANK YOU! :D
